Verifying Accuracy

At the core of the RFID system is the promise of speed and accuracy. Speed is quite easy to determine by comparing the time it takes to perform inventory related tasks, vs. the time it previously took. But the truth is, accuracy is everything, speed doesn't matter if in the end the numbers aren't accurate.

But how do you ensure that your inventory is accurate? By auditing! The software empowers you to audit your numbers and verify yourself how accurate they are. If tagged properly, your inventory accuracy should reliably be between 97-99% accurate. Some important points:

1. Do you have another system to compare the scans to?

If the answer is yes, this will give us a reference point to start to determine accuracy. You will use this data to perform an Audit which compares your RFID scans against these expected counts. The audit allows you to scan items and displays if the items match your expected counts, or fail to match. Of course you'll need to review the mismatched items to determine the reason.

How do you know which is right, my Expected counts or my RFID counts?

The fact is, you don't. Well, not until you check them. This will require you to check these items. Why aren't they scanning? Are all items tagged. Are the tags pressed against metal? Do you need to scan slower to capture the items? Did something get stolen or lost?

It's the process that you must follow to ensure that you have complete confidence in how to tag, where to tag, how densely items can be stored, & how to scan (how close you need to be, how quickly you can pass by items, what scan settings work best). You will find that each time you perform this review process of Mismatches the list becomes shorter and shorter. Once the numbers consistently match you can trust the partner On Hand quantities and therefore should confidently hit that target.

If the answer is no, then you don't have a reference point you will compare your inventory against previous date. How?

1. Confirm that your Absent list is clear

2. From the Scan tab click the "Audit" button which will move all Verified items to Absent status

3. Perform an Add scan using the "Scan" option

4. The items which have been removed since the last reset will appear as Absent
