Troubleshooting Printer Network Connection

I'm trying to network my Printronix printer to my network but it's showing no IP address, only 000.000.000.000

An IP address of 000.000.000.000 means the Printronix isn't getting an IP address from your network. In most cases, either the Ethernet connection isn't actually established or the printer is set to DHCP but isn't receiving an address from the router.

Since you're networking one of your Printronix RFID printers, I'd check it in this order:

First: Make sure that you have a stable internet connection.

  1. Check the Ethernet cable first. Make sure it's connected from the printer's Ethernet/LAN port directly to your router, switch, or an active wall jack. Look at the Ethernet port on the back of the printer—you should normally see link/activity lights. If there are no lights, that's our first clue.
  2. On the printer display, go into Settings/Configuration → Network → Ethernet (the exact wording varies by T-Series vs. TH-Series).
  3. Make sure Ethernet is enabled and the IP assignment is set to DHCP / Automatic, not Static.
  4. If DHCP is already enabled, restart the printer with the Ethernet cable connected and give it about 60–90 seconds after it fully boots.
  5. Check the network/IP screen again. You want something like 192.168.1.123, 192.168.0.123, or 10.x.x.x instead of 000.000.000.000.
